Was up early at my final campsite at Big Meadows. Wanted to walk a 3 mile trail to Lewis Falls before breakfast. Not bad getting there, as it was downhill. Took about three quarters of an hour. Was well worth it. The forest was so quiet. This is probably was it was like when the first settlers arrived and started to "improve " things. The walk back was really exhausting! The path being rocky and uphill all the way. If this is part of the Appalachian Trail, you need to be extremely fit!!
The view from Lewis Falls at 8am, see the mist rising in the distance
Quite a spectacular drop of a few hundred feet!!
Uphill all the way!! It really exhausted me on the way back!!
Almost there!! It was the breakfast I was going to have that kept me going!!
Another deer on the way back, and it was so quiet too.
