Grand Teton & rest of Yellowstone - Thur 1st Aug

Camped in Grand Teton last night for free!! Was up and on the road before 6am to avoid meeting campsite attendant! Had puncture in air bed from sleeping bag zip!!

Second day at Yellowstone, still no sight of bears, especially Yogi and Booboo! Did a loop around the park.

First treat was seeing buffalo this morning heading back past Grant Village and Lake Village.  They were near the Hayden Valley just walking through the parking lot at Mud Volcano.

Stopped at Yellowstone falls and then headed for Norris Geyser Basin, where Steamboat had erupted for the first time in 10 years last night!!  Lots of fuss around this. Pictures show how much steam was rising from it!

Yellowstone falls where the lake flows out of the park

Steamboat made the national news, had erupted the previous evening blowing up to 200 feet high!
Cistern, a connected geyser was also affected and blew a pile of mud up.

Next stop Mammoth Hot Springs, which had some interesting rock formations caused by the spring waters.

Headed on the Grand Loop Road, which had some spectacular scenery and road works near Tower Fall, which was inaccessible because of road works.

Followed route to Fishing Bridge and headed out of Yellowstone on Hwy 14 and Cody Wyoming.

Pelican crossing?!!

Have well and truly "done" Yellowstone and Grand Teton.  I recommend you visit if you can. Spectacular!!
