Ready to go at 9am. Limon campsite had all the amenities I could wish for. Last night watched the weather channel as well as updated this blog etc.
Slightly concerned about the weather in Kansas and Missouri, as they have had heavy thunderstorms and flooding. Hopefully I will slip through between them. Also this region is known as "Tornado Alley", but I should miss that also. Problem is the US weather is not behaving itself because of global warming issues.
Onwards to Topeka, Kansas. Probably won't get that far, but lets see......
Made it to Topeka and am at campground.
Been monitoring weather all day. I missed two tornadoes on the Colorado/Kansas boarder. Heard the announcement on the radio and then transmission stopped!! Was a scary moment as the radio announced that people in Cheyenne and Sherman counties need to go to shelters!! I had no idea where that was, so I stopped and checked my map and realised I had passed through there two hours previously!!
Rest of the drive was not that interesting as everything flat! Had a State Trooper follow me for half an hour then he pulled off. My halo was extra shiny then!!
Not decided whether to visit anything in Topeka, which is the capital city of Kansas. The state capital building I drive by and it was covered in scaffolding just like the one in Denver!! Somebody in the scaffold industry is doing well with government work!!
Am 50 miles from Kansas City, which to me is famous for music, but cannot find anything that is worth visiting!! Am only 350 miles from St Louis, so might just drive directly there. Decide in the morning.
