Grande Ole Opry - Mon 12th Aug

Left room 613 at the Inn Express early and was at the Grande Ole Oprey in time for the 10am tour of the backstage area.

Got to see all the different dressing rooms used by various country music performers and stand on the stage.

Mail boxes for all the living members of the Grand Ole Opry. Fans regulary write c/o this building

Various dressing rooms, each with amp and piano

You can see the flood marker on the left wall.

The guide also talked about the flood back in 2010 when the nearby river flooded the new building with 4ft of water!!! You can see the tide mark in the building still!! Supposidly there is now a 10ft concrete barrier encircling the whole building so it will not happen again.

I was confused about why the building which holds the Grand Ole Opry has changed and its about a circle of wood which was cut out of the original Ryman Auditaurium.  This circle of stage has been moved around for 80 odd years!!

Me looking "country" or just plain hillbilly at the Grand Ole Opry!!!

A really interesting tour and got my pix taken on the famous circle of stage!!

I also went back to Music Row where RCA Studio B is located as I never got to explore it much as I was on a bus tour.

This naked statue causes some locals to clothe it!!! Its at the entrance to Music Row, where all the studios are situated, including the RCA Studio B, which I toured the day before.

The local park at Music Row with statue of Owen Bradley, famous producer and musician
The ASCAP building, round the corner is other royalty collection agencies.

Plenty of studios with posters celebrating their artists' latest hits.

Nashville was overall interesting, but I did not really like the commercial Broadway area.  Like a musical Blacpool. Very tacky and aimed at the tourists. The Hall of Fame/Museum were well worth it as was Studio B tour.

Am now back on I40 heading for Knoxville TN and the final part of my journey. Through the Appalachian Mountains on the Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive.  This will put me close to Washington DC and my cousin Andrew.  Approximately 500 on the Parkway and 200 to Knoxville.  Intend to stop off at Jefferson's Monticello after the mountain drive.  Should easily make Newark for sunday.
